For Al-Arabi the jewel in the crown of our achievements is always client-satisfaction. All our projects hold a special place of honour for us and our involvement in the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi is surely one of those.
Unlike our previous projects, here our involvement was exclusively selected for the special paint with gilding and the Jesmonite columns. Our role was to advise and coordinate with the interior designer Xavier Cartron, SSH consultants and Depa Interiors, who were our direct clients and through whom this particular achievement earned accolades. Our knowledge and expertise with special paint finishes in a project of such prestige, were greatly appreciated as we prepared full-size mock-ups for each of the areas in which we were involved.
Our scope of work covered the following areas: the main entrance, main hall, lobbies, main majlis, with over 150,000 square meters of special paint and 25000 square meters of gold leaf in different finishes. This is the largest painting project that we have done up to date.
In the process of providing samples of painting we were asked if we knew of any alternative material for stone or marble to create the majestic columns in the main majlis. Of course, we proposed our marvellous Jesmonite materials, which we covered in previous article. We were excited to create a mockup of the tremendous potential that Jesmonite offers. After various meetings coordinating all possible finishes, the project was awarded to us.
For this, the requirement was 28 half columns umbrella design with a diameter of 6 meters at the highest level. All were to be perforated and were to be used to embellish the entire majlis. It created exactly the grandeur and majesty that the client was expecting. Without a doubt this is one of the largest projects that has been made in the area in the last 10years and it established Bahrain Al-Arabi as the leading company involved in this area of the project.
The Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace is mainly white and is intricately designed and ornately decorated. The dome is located on top of the central chamber known as “The Great Hall”. The palace was named by the travel and tourism website Hotel and Rest as being among the top 20 landmarks of art and culture in the World. In 2020, the Qasr Al Watan Presidential Palace was nominated for the World Travel Awards as the main cultural tourist attraction in the Middle East.
